On my last look here, I shared everything you need to know about basics, wardrobe essentials and why wardrobe essentials or wardrobe staples are easy and reliable all season.
My look today is an example of basics on replay!
Basics on reply as in I was wearing the same pieces in both looks and on a different day…..
Even though my expectations are always very high of myself when I put a look together. Why you may ask? It is because I feel responsible for the people I cater to including you my blog readers. Although I say it all the time, your kind words make me smile all the time. Thank you.
As high as my expectations are of myself, I am also very practical when it comes to styling, maximising what I have and having fun doing so but most importantly showing others how to do so.
My look today is made up of pieces I wore recently on the blog. On that look, I dressed down my style pieces. However, I decided to dress the look up with heels and a more formal shirt today.
The difference between both looks (dressed down & dressed up) and what I did…………
Flats are perfect for dressing down a look while heels are perfect for dressing the same look up.
Large bag or tote is perfect for dressing down and running errands while clutch is perfect for dressing up.
A formal shirt adds a dressed up touch to a look while a chunky scarf dresses the look down. That scarf is very warm by the way.
Let’s see that casual look !
Full details of the casual look in full here
And the dressed up version of the same pieces……..
Although for both the dressed down and dressed up look, I used the same colour palette which is red and blue as inspired by Tommy Hilfiger.
For the look of the day, I paired a cropped denim with a button down shirt and layered up with a jumper to keep me warm and finished the look with a cut out suede heels.
You will also notice that I added a fish net panty hose / tights underneath my denim. I wanted to add some “attitude” to the look and if I do say so myself, I think I did. Call it sexy, you will be more than right…lol.
Motivation for Monday ::: Your time is coming, Be ready !
Don’t watch them work. Focus on your work and get ready for your opportunity…..Tony Gaskins
Not all of us wait for things to be perfect before we do or start working towards who we want to be. Having said that, many of us wait for things to be perfect or spot on before we even make attempt to try.
While so many desire to be something or somebody, many may not be what / who they want to be because they watch others working towards being who they want to be.
A lot of us look at others and begin to envy their lives, their ways and what they have.
So many use the word I wish! Stop wishing and start acting, start pursuing and keep moving. You may need help, please seek help.
Also know that It is okay for others to inspire you but it is not the best to be a replica of them. You too can be who you want to be by taking action towards being that person.
When you face your own work, do it diligently and passionately. In so doing, when opportunities come, they will find you easily.
Now, get to work. You can do it, you can be who you want to be because there is indeed grateness inside of you.
You will succeed!
With this look, I hope you are inspired on how to dress a look up and also down. Basics has a lot of possibilities, they are indeed the reliable essentials in your closet. Go on and have fun with pairing your basics.
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I am always very happy to see you here.
Wishing you a fantastic week and God bless you real good.
Much Love, Mojisola.

Reworking your wardrobe….nothing better. I mean, there pieces are there. Clearly you like them otherwise they wouldn’t still be hanging in your closet. Why not revamp, rework, restyle the pieces and expand your ensembles. Fashion intelligence goes a long way.
I like the little detailing on the button-down. That’s a nice touch. Now as for the heels, KILLER! They are stunning. The suede texture looks lux. The color is gorgeous and really become the focus. Well played girlie.

Looking good Mojisola! Closet basic are the best because the possibilities for remixing them are endless.
You’re wearing your new heels! They really are beauties and the heel height looks comfy too.

Yes, jackie, I agree with you on the endless possibilities of the wardrobe staples. And yes, the heels are comfy, they are just 4inches. I try not to go more than that so I can enjoy my shoes.
