I attended the Premier Vision last Thursday, it was the main reason WHY I went to Paris. The Premier Vision is WHERE all TREND FORECASTS start for every season. In this case, it was all about the trend forecast for Spring / Summer 2018. I know you would say 2018, but that is far? Yes, trend forecast starts at least two seasons ahead so Designers can get their collections ready for you and I.
A Summary of the Paris Premier Vision (PV)
1, PV is a MASSIVE exhibition hall where all world renowned fabric manufactures meet their customers. In there you find new and established manufactures for some of your favourite stores.
2, In the PV, different companies buy their fabric sample in bulk from the PV and then go ahead to create their store collection for the next season
3, In the PV, you have excellent forum stands which clearly show each trend that is coming through. These stands have samples of all relevant fabrics and trims and most importantly colours.
4, In the PV, there is an extensive section where trend forecasting companies sell their products…..
It is the biggest Fashion exhibition for Fashion Professionals in the world. It was indeed my honour to be there.
The Premier Vision is an exclusive event, no Cameras are allowed. You get searched before you step into the hall. You are only allowed phones and it was my phone I used to capture this images so bare with me for the quality. And hey, see how massive the hall is, it was huge, my phone couldn’t capture it in full or tell the story well:
My Premier Vision Look Book
For the PV, it was all about comfort because there is so much walking to do. No high heels, you will be crazy to wear that, crazy because after a while, you may not be able to walk again. The hall is massive and different events happen in different places…..
When I think comfort, jeans is not it for me. It has to be a loose dress or leggings with tunic. This was what many people wore. A lot of people wore jeans as well. People wore sneakers, low heel ankle boots, flat knee high boots and so on but everyone was comfortable.
For my own look, I wore a dress shirt and leggings with some sneakers. To mimic the oversized shoe laces of my Puma Basket Heart, I wore my tie neck scarf which I wore HERE and HERE. I felt comfortable all day, walked around: learning, asking questions, taking reports and so much more relating to WHY I was sent there.
It is no coincident that that background behind me is purple and the floor I was standing on is yellow. I also had a badge rope in that colour. This is a pointer that for SS 18, those colours will be coming BIG…..
I saw fabrics of all kinds (silk, floral etc), leather, fur and much more in their raw state, how much they are worth, how much they sell for and much more. It was indeed an eye opening experience for me and one I will cherish for a long time to come.
Will write more reports soon and it will be my pleasure to share it with y’all. Please stay tuned.
“I love Fashion and it is one of the things I thrive at. I never struggle at it because it comes to me naturally”
I wrote that in my book, Use What You Have!
When I stood on that floor, it brought big excitement and emotion to my face and I jumped for joy. Look at that first picture and give it a tag line…would you not write, “Mojisola jumps for joy for Fashion’s sake?”
As vane as that may sound, it reminded me also to remind you to go after your dreams no matter what it is. Please don’t waste it. You may be afraid trying it BUT do it anyway. Always remember that YOU CAN!
C: care enough about it
A: am willing to try
N: nobody will / can stop me except me
FLASH BACK: See a look book, I did two years ago in that colour scheme: Who would have thought I would be walking on a floor and backdrop with that colour scheme? I love it
