Working from home does not mean staying in your PJs all day everyday. Let’s face it, we all have those days when we feel like not dressing up but that does not have to be the case everyday. Today, I bring you 7 TIPS that will make you wake up, dress up and show up when working from home.
1. Have a routine and stick with it: Wake Up Time & Out of Work Hours
Working from home is a different ball game to working in an office space. Every job have their own work hours, whether flexible or not, you must to show up if you have to. In this case, you have a time you wake up, your travel time and the time your start working. When working from home, have a routine that works. Your working from home life may be flexible BUT being intentional about your routine will help you to wake up at the right time, dress up and show up like you would if working in an office space. Dressing up when working from home have been proven to help bein focused and productive. Once you fininsh from work, learn to switch off and return to home mood. This will help you define your work hours from your home life. So, once you finish from work, trun off from work and be HOME. Having a routine works, if working from home.
2. Take Short Breaks
I am one of those ones who love to get things done and now too. I now know better that taking breaks is not only great for stretching your legs and back and grabbing a glass of water, it is great for increased productivity and mental wellness. Research has proven that when we continue to work when we are tired, we are likely to make mistakes and less productive which in turn could affect how we feel emotionally and mentally. I made a video of HOW TO LIVE IN THE MOMENT recently. You can check it out HERE
3. Have a TO DO List
Having a to do list is like a guide to tick the things you want to achieve each day as done. When working from home, it is best to have a weekly to do and a daily one. This helps you to remain focused and get things done. Not having a to do list may make you miss out on very important things to do daily.
4. Start Your Day with a Clear Head – journal, meditate, exercise or do some yoga.
Working from home may mean that you get the opportunity to sleep in for longer. This is WHY the number 3 above is very important. When working from home, stick to your routine including your wake up time and then take some time to ease yourself into your work routine. You can start your day by praying, meditating, exercising and doing some yoga. Starting your day with a clear head will make you more productive, focused and have the stamina to work each day better and look good. Rising up from your bed and just jumping in to work may make you get tired quicker and it makes you less focused. PS: Exercising is a good way to relieving stress hormones which is good for your mental health and in turn will make you feel and look good on the outside.

5. Have Your Meal Time
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day they say. When working from home, breakfast is not the only meal you should have, you should have meals that will make you feel energetic, strong and nourished. So to say, you must feed and fuel your body to be able to be the best at work and outside of your work. So, focus on having meals at your meal time.
6. Have a Work Station
The situation we find ourselves, i.e. working from home is unprecedented. When working from home, it is always a good idea to have a work station, so you have a vibe of being in your work area. When you do this, it makes you less confused about where to work each day. You can set up a “make do” work station where all your work would be done. I recently bought an IKEA Malm Table and this is my make up / office station and it works. You can check it out HERE
7. Work Where there is Natural Light
Research have proven that when we go for walks in nature, we boost our mental strength. It is “bad enough” that we are all locked down, we can make it better by how we handle working from home. So, to have a vibe of nature and light coming into your space. You can check out the video I made about WHY I WORK by the Window.
