Dressing down does not mean not looking well put together. Dressing down means, laid back, relaxed and can still mean very well put together. The fact that you are dressed down does not mean you should look like a glorified mess. Today, I bring you a few ways on how you can dress up or accessorise a casual look.
1, Wear a scarf
Scarves can dress up or accessorise a casual look while keeping you warm. Choose one with distinctive pattern or colour; one that matches your personality. In the Autumn/Winter, choose heavy ones and in the Summer choose light ones. Scarves are perfect to dress up a casual look. Let’s see what I mean……

2, Wear a Statement Belt / Necklace……
On a day you just want to dash out the door in your denim / jeans and basic tee, little or no make up, effortless hair and chap stick / lipgloss. but you want to look dressed up; a touch of jewel will be perfect. You can wear a statement belt, a bold wrist watch, a chunky necklace etc. Let’s see a statement belt……..

3, Wear Heels
One of the easiest and the most popular ways to dress up or accessorise a casual look is to wear high heels. Heels make you stand tall and they make you walk elegantly. Always ensure to choose heels at your comfort level to avoid tripping, wobbling when walking and damage to the ankle. See a dressed up casual look with heels below…..
4, Wear Red Lipstick
The red lipstick is classic and it screams glamour. On a dressed down day when you want to look presentably glam, pop on your favourite red lipstick. My current personal favourite red lipstick is the Mac’s Ruby Woo. What’s yours?
5, Wear a Blazer
One of the easiest ways to dress up a dressed down look is to wear a blazer. It adds instant polish and sophistication to any look. I always recommend to choose one that is structured. Your blazer doesn’t have to be black, it could be any colour you fancy. See what I mean below and to see the look before the blazer, please check this post on how to dress up a casual look.
Wear a Statement Bag
The bag you wear can actually add a nice accent to you look. When you are dressed down but want to look well put together, throw on a fine or gorgeous statement bag. Go for anyone you fancy. One with studs, oversized one, cross body etc. Just go for anyone you fancy. Let’s see what I mean……
7, WEAR STATEMENT SNEAKERS
Another way to accessorise a casual look in a fun way is to wear some statement sneakers. Choose any colour you fancy and in any fabric too. By the way, sneakers is one of the trending fashion at the moment so it is a good time to bag yourself a pair. To see fashion trends to try, please check HERE for part 1 and HERE for part 2. And who says you can’t wear sneakers with dresses and any other thing you fancy? Well gone are the days. These days, sneakers are just fine with “anything”
Those are some of my favourite ways to accessorise or look dressed up when I am dressed down. I hope you find them helpful. Please share with me in the comments below your favourite ways to dress up your dressed down look.

Thanks for this. I will be using some of today’s tips. I see ladies pairing dresses with sneakers and I would live to try it out. Is there anything I should keep in mind when wearing that look?
Thank you Bola for reading. I am glad you found it helpful. Pairing sneakers with anything is edgy and fun. Just do it which ever way you are comfortable with and have fun with it. I will say the only thing is to ensure that your sneakers are not bulky or over the top big. Let them be a smart pair and the ones your love. White goes with everything and anything. I hope that helps. Have a great weekend.
Much Love.
All great tips Mojisola! I have tons of scarves that I wear all autumn/winter long…combined with jackets galore! Love those looks
Thank you Linda. Scarves are winter must have I agree. Have a lovely weekend darling.
Heels are definitely my fave accessory – though my sunglasses rarely leave my face or head (I’m usually sitting at work with them perched up there somewhere!).
Yes, I love sunglasses as well. Thank you for reading.
All great Tips. Very helpful. I will go for heels anyday.
