I have followed Alexa Chung’s career for a while. She is one of those underdog in the fashion world. Alexa is a British Fashion Model, Television presenter and Contributing Editor at British Vogue. When I heard of her collaboration with M&S (Marks & Spencer), I was curious to see what she designed in collaboration with them.
As for M&S, a lot of people think of them as a not so fashion forward brand when it comes to clothing. However, this days, they are “uping” their game and this is why they now do collaboration with modern women of influence to bring modern and on trend vibe to their collection. By the way, if you look well in M&S, you will find great and fashionable items there. And they do great lingerie too.
From the Alexa Chung collection for M&S, I got this dress before I went on holiday but didn’t get the chance to do the photos until I got back. Let’s just say this look is the last summer wear you would see here on the blog. From now on, depending on the weather, all the blogs, will be all about Autumn. Recently, I shared a blog to welcome Autumn and SIMPLE WAYS TO TRANSITION TO AUTUMN, if you missed it, feel free to click on that link to read all about it.
In case you were wondering, I shot the video on how to apply blush correctly in this dress. Sometimes, I make my photo day my filming day too. Such days for me are hectic but hey, it has to be done.
Outfit of the Day ::: Shift Dress & Bow Detail Sneakers
For this look, I paired this clean crisp white shift dress with a pair of bow detail sneakers and finished the look with a mini clutch. For make up, I made it very minimal so the attention could be on the detail of this gorgeous cotton shift dress. As for my hair, I pulled it back and to show off my face and the neck detail of the dress. And that is my outfit of the day!
This kind of look is perfect for a casual launch or dinner date, movie, meeting up the the girls and if you like running errands. You can also pair this kind of dress with leggings…..
The simple details on the dress like the high neck and frilled sleeve are just perfect for a plain dress like this
Motivation for Monday ::: Plan so You DON’T FaiL
A wise one once said, “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail”
That saying is so true and in all areas of life too. I mentioned above that sometimes, I film on the day I do photos too because (1), I can go ahead and do other things on the other days and (2), I can wear the same cloth and make up for both filming and photos. You don’t have to wear make up, I just like that it makes me look very well presented.
So on such days, I do a lot of planning ahead of time so I can get everything done. Here is a few things to do so as not to fail
1, Journal : you can write all of the things you want to achieve down. For me, I do not just write those things down, I write steps to take to achieve them.
2, Assign a Time to Everything : I know it is not possible to mark down each second of the day but it is possible to assign specific time to what you hope to achieve in a day. For example, from 9 to 10am photos with Claire and from 12 – 1 film 2 videos and from 3 – 5 do homework, make dinner with the boys and play with them. That is just an idea of what could be in my life.
You may have noticed that I left time in between photos and filming and the other chore so I am not rushed. It is important to give yourself enough time always so you are not under pressure.
3, Set Up : set up everything you need to achieve the things you have written out to do. For example, I do marathon photos sometimes. So what this means is that I select all clothing to be photographed, lay them out or hang them and pack them in a garment bag ready to get on set. This saves time and money too. Time; my time and my photographers time. Money; I don’t have to pay for another round of photography.
Just curious to know, if you are a fashion blogger, do you do photos each time you have to schedule a post or do you do marathon photos too? Please let me know.
All in all, it is important to plan so you do not fail. I used myself and lifestyle as an example in the 3-step I mentioned above. Planning is applicable to all works of life. For example, plan on your study routine, plan on arriving at that interview early after you have thoroughly prepared for it, plan on saving for the future, plan on where you want to be in 5 years time, plan on how many kids you want to have and the list goes on and on….
Life is all about planning. It is important to plan so you do not fail. If you are like me, planning is not enough, I prayerfully plan to take charge spiritually. Spiritual manifest in the physical.
And that is my quick look of the day featuring a shift dress by Alexa Chung for M&S. I like the shift dress a lot and it is a piece that will be in my closet for a long time. Do you like it as much as I do? Please let me know in the comments below.
I want to thank you so much for stopping by today. Wishing you an amazing day today and God bless you with his love and favour. Don’t forget, it is always a good idea to plan and plan always too.
Much Love, Mojisola.
I was wearing……..
Alexa Chung for M&S dress // Stradivarius sneakers // Zara Purse

Thank you so much Stella. X
I love your shift dress! It’s so chic and elegant. It’s funny Marks and Spencer used to be here in late 80’s and I think the last one closed early 90’s. But for whatever reason I still remember that store.
Have a great week!
Another great motivation Monday. And I can’t tell you how many times failing to plan has come back to bite me. I recently just bought a better calendar app to manage my time
